Collaboration with leading scientific sports universities of South Korea

 As part of the implementation of the APEMS Development Strategy for 2022-2026, APEMS strives to expand the geography of partner universities on a regular basis.

So, on March 21 and 22, 2024, the Head of the Department of International Cooperation, Dina Saparova visited the best Korean sports universities Chung-Ang University (CAU) and Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU.

Chung-Ang University (CAU) has a 100-year-old history and is included in the TOP 10 best higher education institutions in South Korea. This is a private university that annually graduates more than 30 thousand specialists of various levels and specializations, and also trains about 3,500 foreign students. According to QS-Chosun, the university ranks 1st in the TOP100 among educational institutions in Asia.

After visiting CAU, Dina Saparova held a meeting with the leaders and representatives of the international department of the university: JB Shin is the Director of the Department of International Relations and International Student Mobility, Ainsworth Chung Min Lee is the Deputy Director of the Department of International Relations and International Student Mobility, So Hee Choi is a specialist of the Department of International Relations.

Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) is among the Top 10 leading universities and is considered one of the oldest and most honorable universities in South Korea. The university is included in the Top 5% of universities in the international rankings. SKKU is recognized as one of the best universities for the quality of teaching and is included in the Top 200 in the world rankings, occupying 145 position, according to QS ranking.

Dina Saparova also had a meeting with the heads of the university’s Department of International Cooperation: Won Tae Hee - Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Theodor Siegl - Coordinator for International Relations at SKKU.

During both meetings the partner sides discussed the possibilities of:

  • concluding a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU);
  • starting cooperation in such areas as:
  • academic mobility of students and teachers;
  • visit of Korean scientists to give lectures and conduct master classes at APEMS;
  • joint scientific research.
